The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered yet another massive administrative reshuffle in West Bengal. Defying Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s public outcry and allegations of "political interference," the poll panel on Thursday directed the immediate transfer of 11 District Magistrates (DMs) and 32 Additional District Magistrates (ADMs), along with several SDOs. This follows a string of high-profile removals, including the Chief Secretary and DGP, signaling the Commission's intent to tighten its grip on the state's election machinery ahead of the April 2026 polls.
