Ahead of the Assembly elections, Rajanya Haldar has announced the formation of a new political party, “Janasangram Manch”, after being sidelined by the All India Trinamool Congress and failing to secure a place in the Bharatiya Janata Party. The announcement was made on Thursday at the Press Club, where she also declared her intention to contest in the upcoming elections.
Rajanya had earlier risen to prominence after delivering sharp remarks from the stage during a major political event, drawing attention from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She was subsequently given responsibilities within the party and quickly became a known face in state politics.
However, her political trajectory took a downturn following controversy surrounding a short film linked to the RG Kar incident. The Trinamool Congress gradually distanced itself from her, and despite her attempts to remain active in public discourse, her political relevance diminished over time.
Amid speculation of a possible shift to the BJP, Rajanya reportedly held discussions with party leaders and made suggestive public statements. However, with no concrete political space offered, she has now opted to carve her own path by launching a new party and entering the electoral contest independently.
