Public anger over an acute shortage of LPG cylinders led to a major road blockade near LIC More in Asansol under the South Police Outpost area. Residents staged a protest by placing empty gas cylinders on the road, disrupting traffic on the crucial route connecting Asansol with Purulia and Jharkhand.
Protesters raised slogans demanding immediate supply of cylinders and accountability from the gas agency. They accused the agency of black marketing and failing to deliver cylinders despite confirmed bookings. The demonstration caused significant disruption, drawing attention to the growing frustration among consumers.
According to the aggrieved residents, many had booked cylinders nearly a month ago and received confirmation messages along with receipts from the agency. However, deliveries have been repeatedly delayed, with customers alleging they are being ignored despite multiple follow-ups. Authorities are yet to respond as tensions remain high in the area.
