• Election Commission launches online portal for voters to apply to SIR tribunals
• Portal allows submission of appeals and documents for voter list corrections
• Supplementary voter lists to be issued daily to speed up verification process
The Election Commission has launched an online portal allowing voters to submit applications to tribunals under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The initiative aims to provide a formal platform for individuals whose names were left out of the electoral rolls to seek verification and correction ahead of the upcoming elections.
According to sources in the Election Commission, the portal will enable affected voters to file appeals and submit required documents directly to the designated tribunals. This step is intended to streamline the process of reviewing disputed cases and ensure that eligible voters are given an opportunity to restore their names to the voter list. In addition to the portal launch, the Commission is reportedly planning to publish supplementary voter lists on a daily basis. The move is expected to speed up the inclusion process as authorities continue verifying documents and resolving pending cases related to the electoral rolls.
Officials believe that issuing updated lists more frequently will help address the growing number of complaints regarding omitted names. The new system is designed to ensure transparency and allow eligible voters to regularize their electoral status before the polling process begins.
