Panic spread across the Golabari area of Howrah after a fresh incident of firing was reported on Wednesday, with two youths narrowly escaping harm. The incident took place in the Bibir Bagan area under Golabari police station, adding to growing concerns following a recent similar disturbance in Pilkahana.
According to reports, a group led by Vicky Dalui and Akash Yadav allegedly created chaos in the locality while under the influence of alcohol. The situation escalated when they reportedly threatened a youth, Raj Pal, by placing a sharp weapon against his throat. When his brother Rahul Pal attempted to intervene, he too was threatened and physically assaulted, intensifying the confrontation.
During the altercation, Akash Yadav allegedly opened fire, triggering panic among residents in the area. Police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and managed to arrest Akash Yadav along with one of his associates. However, the main accused Vicky Dalui and several others fled the scene.
A large-scale search operation has since been launched to track down the absconding individuals. Police are investigating the sequence of events and the motive behind the incident, while increased vigilance has been put in place in the area to prevent further escalation.
