"Airport in Murshidabad, focus on health and infra": Humayun-Owaisi launch manifesto

In a significant move for the 2026 Assembly Elections, Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief Humayun Kabir and AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi jointly released their election manifesto, titled "People's Development, Rights of All." The launch took place during a massive public gathering at the Dubapara field in Nowda, Murshidabad. The manifesto outlines a comprehensive vision for the state, emphasizing health, education, and infrastructure, with a standout promise to construct a dedicated airport in the Murshidabad district to boost regional connectivity.

Humayun Kabir, a former Trinamool leader who recently broke away to form the AJUP, has strategically aligned with Owaisi’s AIMIM to challenge the established political order. The alliance has already demonstrated its scale by fielding candidates in 197 seats across West Bengal. Their platform focuses heavily on minority and cultural development, alongside broader economic goals, including employment generation, agricultural reform, and the protection of civil rights and law and order.

Addressing the crowd in Nowda, Asaduddin Owaisi took a direct aim at both the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. He questioned the rise of the BJP’s influence in Bengal under the current administration. He asserted that while the alliance fights for the rights of the Muslim minority, its struggle is not against any Hindu citizen. Owaisi struck a defiant tone, declaring that the alliance would neither "bow down" before Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee nor be intimidated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
