Dilip Ghosh has accused the All India Trinamool Congress of resorting to violence out of fear of electoral defeat, following an incident involving the alleged surrounding of judicial officials in Malda. Speaking in Kharagpur, the BJP leader claimed that the situation reflects a serious breakdown of law and order in West Bengal, raising concerns amid the ongoing election atmosphere.
Addressing journalists, Ghosh said that such incidents indicate growing desperation within the Trinamool ranks. He alleged that Election Commission officials have also faced intimidation, including being surrounded and shown black flags, suggesting that authorities on duty are being obstructed in multiple locations. According to him, these developments point to increasing political tension across the state.
Ghosh further alleged that the ruling party is attempting to influence the electoral process through force and intimidation. He claimed that repeated incidents involving disruption of officials, including members of the judiciary, demonstrate a pattern of alleged interference. Questioning the prevailing situation, he said that if judges are unable to carry out their responsibilities freely, it raises serious concerns about governance and law enforcement.
Referring to the role of the Election Commission of India, Ghosh stated that the administration is currently under its control during the election period. He also took a swipe at Mamata Banerjee, asserting that the electoral process will function strictly according to the Commission’s rules and directives, not individual political influence.
