Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A deeply emotional incident has emerged from Pali district, where two elderly women and lifelong friends passed away within just five hours of each other in Takhatgarh, leaving the entire town in mourning. The rare sequence of events has been widely described by locals as a poignant example of an unbreakable bond that continued even in death.
The two women, Jethi Bai, wife of late Malaram Kalbi, and Bhikhibai, wife of late Bhooraram Kalbi, shared a friendship spanning decades in the Nagchowk area of Takhatgarh. Residents recalled that the two often expressed a wish that if one of them passed away, the other should follow, a sentiment that many now say tragically came true.
According to local accounts, Jethi Bai’s health deteriorated on April 4, and she passed away later that night. The following morning, on April 5, Bhikhibai learned of her friend’s death and reportedly went into deep shock. Within hours, around 8 am, she too passed away, leaving both families and the community stunned by the sudden and closely linked deaths.
In a rare and emotional decision, both families chose to conduct the last rites together. On the afternoon of April 5, a large number of residents gathered at the cremation ground on Gogera Road, where both funeral processions were carried out simultaneously, and the two friends were cremated on the same pyre, creating a deeply moving scene witnessed by hundreds.
Family members said that while Bhikhibai had been experiencing leg pain in recent days, she was unable to cope with the grief of losing her closest companion. The bond extended across generations, as their husbands were also close friends. Originally from villages in the Ahore region of Jalore district, the two women’s lifelong companionship has left a lasting impression on the community, with many calling it a rare and unforgettable example of friendship.
