Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP during an election rally at Tentulia in North 24 Parganas on Friday. Addressing the crowd, she alleged that the saffron party lacked the confidence to secure votes from local residents in Assam and consequently "imported" a trainload of 50,000 outsiders from Uttar Pradesh to influence the single-phase Assam Assembly elections held on Thursday, April 9.
Mamata Banerjee warned that the BJP is attempting a similar strategy in West Bengal, accusing them of bringing in "people, money, and drugs" to grab power. "Even a snake can be trusted, but not the BJP," she added.
Mamata also slammed SIR and detailed a community-wise breakdown, alleging that 60 lakh Hindus and 30 lakh Muslims were removed. She compared this to the NRC exercise in Assam, where she claimed 13 lakh Hindus and 6 lakh Muslims were delisted, asserting that the BJP's actions target the rights and identity of Bengali-speaking people regardless of religion.
