Court sends Councilor Mahesh Sharma to 6-day police custody in extortion case
A man was found hanging inside a locked women’s restroom at Inderlok Metro Station, triggering panic and confusion among commuters and staff. Police said the body was discovered on Saturday evening after a complaint was received about a foul smell coming from a locked toilet inside the Sulabh complex within the station premises.
According to officials, a call was made to the Police Control Room around 5:33 pm, following which a police team rushed to the spot. Upon arrival, officers broke open the locked restroom door and found the body of an unidentified man, estimated to be around 40 years old, hanging from a noose inside the facility.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased may have been the caretaker of the restroom complex. An eyewitness informed police that the man had last been seen nearly two days before the body was discovered. Authorities have shifted the body to the mortuary of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for preservation and post-mortem examination, while efforts are underway to establish his identity.
Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings under relevant legal provisions, examining both possibilities of suicide and foul play. Investigators are also working with metro authorities to gather further details about the deceased and his presence inside the women’s restroom.
The incident has raised several questions, particularly regarding how and why the man entered the women’s facility and whether any external factors were involved. Officials stated that all angles are being thoroughly examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
