Central forces launches 3 helpline numbers ahead of phase 2 Bengal voting

Ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026, the Central Reserve Police Force has launched special helpline numbers to address voter complaints and ensure a smooth polling process. The announcement was made by the Inspector General of CRPF, who is also serving as the West Bengal sector and state force coordinator, just a day before voting across 142 constituencies.

Voters have been urged to immediately report any form of intimidation, obstruction, or irregularity on polling day by contacting the designated helpline numbers. The numbers released are 8420272101, 8420272343, and the landline 033-23671117. Officials indicated that prompt action will be taken upon receiving complaints, with teams ready to respond to any situation that could disrupt the electoral process.

The move comes as security arrangements have been significantly intensified across poll-bound districts. Authorities have highlighted that the first phase of voting was largely peaceful due to coordinated efforts by police, central forces, and election officials. With a larger number of constituencies going to polls in the second phase, the deployment and vigilance levels have been further increased.

A high-level coordination meeting involving election authorities, police officials, administrative officers, and central force personnel was recently held at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Alipore. During the meeting, officials were instructed to remain on high alert, particularly regarding attempts at fake voting and any form of disturbance that could affect polling.

As part of preventive measures, 1,543 individuals have already been arrested across various districts within a span of 36 hours leading up to the polls. Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal also issued a stern warning, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt the voting process, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to ensuring free and fair elections.
