"Why no FIR against Amit Shah?" asks Abhishek as CID serves him fresh summon for June 16
CID officials on Friday visited the Kolkata residence of Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee and served him a fresh notice in connection with a cyber-related case being investigated by the agency. The notice directs him to appear before the CID on June 16. The visit came shortly after Banerjee returned from a party meeting at the residence of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kalighat. CID officials later left the residence after completing the process of serving the notice.
Speaking to reporters, Banerjee confirmed that he had already spent nearly five-and-a-half hours before CID investigators in a separate matter and had been summoned again for June 14. He said he would attend the questioning and reiterated that he has always cooperated with investigative agencies. Referring to the fresh notice, he stated that he had requested investigators to serve notices when he was personally available, adding that officials had waited at his residence until his return to deliver the summons.
Banerjee also criticised what he described as source-based reports concerning the investigation. He alleged that information related to a sub-judice matter was being leaked and stated that legal action would be initiated before the High Court regarding the issue. He further said that multiple cases were being filed against him after the change in government and questioned why no complaints had been raised during the election period regarding his DJ-related remarks. He also stated that he would continue to contest the cases legally and maintained that neither he nor his party would be intimidated by investigative agencies.
