Crack detected in pillar at Kolkata Metro's City Centre station; will services be affected?
A massive fire broke out in a CNG-laden lorry on the Bankura-Purulia National Highway on Wednesday morning, causing widespread panic in the surrounding area. The intense flames quickly engulfed the heavy vehicle, leaving the truck completely gutted. Eight to ten motorbikes parked along the roadside were also caught in the inferno and reduced to ashes.
Upon receiving information about the incident, two fire tenders rushed to the spot to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters managed to bring the raging fire under control before it could spread further. The accident occurred near a private engineering college and a private school, but a major disaster was averted due to the swift action of the fire services.
The incident caused a temporary disruption to traffic movement along the busy national highway as authorities cordoned off the area for safety. Normalcy was restored on the stretch once the fire was completely put out and the burnt debris was cleared from the road.
