Four helpline numbers to report extortion, illegal toll & liquor trade; CM plans to recruit one lakh personnel

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari inaugurated four dedicated toll-free helpline numbers at Bhabani Bhavan to tackle corruption, cut money, and syndicate activities across West Bengal. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against corrupt practices, the Chief Minister announced that citizens can now directly register complaints round-the-clock regarding illegal extortion, illegal tolls, and bribery.

The newly launched helpline network assigns specific numbers for distinct grievances: 155334 for cut money, 155335 for syndicate extortion, 155337 for illegal road tax or toll collection, and 155339 for reporting illicit liquor trade. The administration confirmed that calls will be logged, monitored, and addressed within fixed timeframes to ensure prompt action against offenders.

Along with the helpline portal, the state government outlined measures to modernize the police force and enhance administrative efficiency. The Chief Minister announced plans to recruit one lakh personnel in the police department, align policing infrastructure with effective governance models, and ensure female police officers receive postings closer to their home locations.
