In Dahod, Gujarat, a government primary school principal has been arrested for the alleged murder of a six-year-old girl after she resisted his attempts to sexually assault her. The girl's body was discovered inside the premises of Torni Primary School on Thursday, prompting police to launch a thorough investigation.
According to Superintendent of Police Rajdeepsinh Zala, the accused, 55-year-old Govind Natt, initially claimed he had dropped the girl off at school after picking her up in his car at her mother's request. However, further inquiries revealed that the girl had not attended school that day. Witnesses reported that Natt attempted to molest the girl en route, and when she resisted, he smothered her to prevent her from screaming.
The timeline of events indicates that after the incident, Natt parked his vehicle with the girl's body inside and later disposed of her remains behind the school building. He even placed the child’s school bag and slippers in her classroom to mislead others about her whereabouts. The investigation gathered momentum as police analyzed his mobile phone records and interrogated the principal, ultimately leading to his confession.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that the child had died from smothering. This shocking case has drawn significant public attention and outrage, highlighting serious concerns regarding child safety. Natt has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
