A massive fire broke out in two adjacent plastic warehouses late Sunday night on Six by One Tangra Road, triggering panic among residents in the densely populated area. Locals said they heard a sudden explosion around 10:30 p.m., and moments later, flames were seen engulfing one of the warehouses.
According to residents, the fire first started in one warehouse and quickly spread to the adjoining one, both of which stored large quantities of plastic materials. The intensity of the fire caused thick plumes of smoke to rise, visible from several nearby lanes. Some locals claimed the factory had been operating for a long time, while others were unaware that any plastic unit was functioning there.
Eight fire engines were immediately deployed to the site, and with the coordinated efforts of fire officials and residents, the flames were brought under control within 30 minutes. A gas cylinder was also recovered from the site, though no casualties were reported.
The cause of the explosion is yet to be confirmed, and an investigation has been initiated to determine whether the factory was operating with proper safety permissions.
