Bengal doctors elected best pediatric surgeons in India; Awarded by IAPS

Pediatric surgeons from West Bengal have achieved the distinguished title of being the best in the country. The Pediatric Surgery Association of West Bengal has been recognized as the most outstanding state chapter among all the counterparts nationwide, a decision made by the prestigious Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (IAPS). This recognition is a major source of pride for the medical community in the state.

The Bengal Chapter of the IAPS was specifically awarded the top honor for its exceptional activities and performance during the 2024-2025 period. It was for this time frame that the Pediatric Surgery Association of West Bengal was declared the best of the best in the country, surpassing all other state associations.

During the recognized period, the organization was led by Dr. Ruchirendu Sarkar, who served as the President, and Dr. Sujoy Paul, who held the position of Secretary. Both surgeons are prominent figures in the state's medical field.

The competition for the top spot was fierce, featuring several prominent state chapters. Bengal successfully outpaced organizations such as the Delhi Association of Pediatric Surgeons, the Karnataka State Chapter, the Jammu Kashmir Chapter, the Kerala Chapter, and the Pediatric Surgeons' associations of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Overcoming such strong competitors, the Pediatric Surgery Association of West Bengal has justly earned the crown for being the best in the country.
