Angry mob vandalises TMC leader's house, sets fire over corruption allegations
Senior BJP leader and candidate from Kharagpur Sadar constituency Dilip Ghosh has sparked a fresh political row in West Bengal by claiming that several sitting Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs are in touch with the BJP. Following the announcement of the TMC’s candidate list for the 291 assembly seats, Ghosh asserted that those denied tickets are now "lining up" at the BJP office.
This sensational claim comes at a time when the BJP is intensifying its campaign, having already fielded Suvendu Adhikari from the prestigious Bhabanipur seat to challenge the Chief Minister directly. Ghosh remarked that the "biggest surprise in the TMC's list is that there are no surprises," implying that the ruling party is struggling to keep its house in order.
Meanwhile, several jilted Trinamool leaders are protesting the list announced by the TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, and General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Massive protests were seen in the Rajganj constituency, where the sitting MLA has resigned from the district chief post of the Trinamool Congress.
