Kolkata police arrest two for repeated rape, blackmail of minor girl

The Rajabagan police station in Kolkata has arrested two youths following a formal complaint filed by the father of a 16-year-old girl regarding repeated sexual assault and blackmail. The accused individuals, who were identified as acquaintance-level friends of the victim, reportedly orchestrated the initial assault at her residence in March this year. According to law enforcement officials, the suspects later coerced the minor to an alternate location where they assaulted her again, secretly captured intimate photographs during the acts, and used the digital media to enforce a strict regime of silence through systemic extortion.

Driven by extreme fear of social retribution, the teenager initially concealed the trauma from her family before finally disclosing the details of the prolonged abuse at her home. The suspects, whose primary residences are located in the Nadial neighborhood, threatened to broadcast the compromising explicit media across various social media platforms if she alerted anyone or approached the authorities. Upon receiving the formal criminal complaint from the victim's father, investigators tracked down and apprehended both individuals directly outside their houses.

Following the arrests, the local police department arranged a mandatory physical examination for the minor and took necessary administrative steps to transfer her safely to a government-monitored safe home. The two detained youths have been formally produced before the Alipore POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court, where investigators are seeking active custody to deepen their interrogation. The newly elected state administration reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on public safety, directing law enforcement agencies to apply maximum legal penalties without institutional compromise in all ongoing crimes against women.
