Angry mob vandalises TMC leader's house, sets fire over corruption allegations
Residents in several Shia-dominated areas of Kashmir organised a donation drive for people affected by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, collecting cash, gold and household items to support victims in Iran. The initiative took place a day after Eid celebrations, with youth volunteers going door to door to gather contributions from local communities across parts of the Valley.
Officials said people from all walks of life participated in the humanitarian effort, including men, women and children. Many families contributed generously, offering gold jewellery, copper utensils, cash and other valuable household items. In some instances, families even donated livestock as a gesture of solidarity with those affected by the conflict.
Several emotional moments from the campaign circulated widely on social media. In one instance, a woman donated gold jewellery that had been kept as a memento of her husband who passed away nearly three decades ago. Another video showed a young girl contributing her piggy bank savings, which she said she had been collecting for three years.
The Iranian Embassy in India expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, thanking the people of Kashmir for their humanitarian support. In a message shared online, the embassy said the act of solidarity would never be forgotten. Officials stated that the collected donations will be sent through recognised relief organisations to ensure the aid reaches those affected by the conflict.
